Intimacy is the opposite of "quiet desperation' coined by Henry
Thoreau in "Most men lead lives of quiet desperation and go to their grave with the song still in them".
I would like to modify as "..... to their grave with the song
and illusion still in them."

Intimacy is what happens when and where true healthy minds meet
in talking, eating, gardening, walking, playing, sleeping, fishing,...etc, being understood, understanding and challenging
each other.

We Koreans don't have a good word for intimacy; the closest is friendship or love. Both
words are themselves too loose. Just like Koreans cannot pronounce well words with th,
f, and l, meaning of intimacy may appear very vague. So, here is one of the best among
8 definitions from a dictionary(2).

"a close, familiar and usually affectionate or loving, personal relationship with another
person or group."
