구케의원 Lee Eon-joo
"If it were not for Park, I would have lived in a worse country than the Philippines."
Lee Eon-joo is also a typical politician who plays a side to side role.
Based on these reasons, aren't you Lee's pro-Japanese background?

Well, she's not good-looking.. however, like a hard pebble, she's formidable before anyone. Nobody thinks light of her. That is why she appears unpertubed in the whirlwind of media frenzy which decries almost daily about her dubious political agenda or ulterior motives..

Before going into what ticks her, I'd like to look into her c.v. In accordance with her internet profile, she was born in Youngdo, Pusan .. graduated from Youngdo Girls' HighSchool and entered SNU majoring in French Literature. She enrolled herself in Northwestern Law School in America. Back home, she studied Economic Laws in Yonsei University.

Very impressive academic credentials, in that she honed her sense of right & wrong especially by legal minds. Then, what about her French of SNU? Maybe, she didn't want to languish in "French careers" perhaps as a humble teacher or as a mediocre interpreter. Definitely, she saw no future in those areas where they use French. Nevertheless, it's well-known that SNU French graduates are brainy and socially successful as well.. with Suh KyungSuk, a renowned entertainer, for example.

Anyway, it's also known that Lee had a very hard time thanks to her father's commercial failure aggravated by IMF crisis, which is why she's reported to have had assorted lowly jobs here & there to become a "hard pebble". Also noteworthy is that she lived in Singapore when young. In short, she's lived a tempestuous life. Needlessly to say, she conquered her tumultuous fate, while johns & janes might have succumed to a very harsh fate.

She achieved her political advancement when Han MyungSook's Democratic United Party gave a love-call to her in 2012. In fact, Lee belonged to "center-right", thus, Han betted on conservative electorates. Maybe, her original political orientation is a prime factor for her to eulogize Park JungHee, a murderous dictator. Nevertheless, Lee got elected as a congress woman in the 19th National Elections. From then on, she acted as a progressive. In 2016, under the banner of The Minju Party of Korea, she was reelected in the same district of KwangMyung, Kyungki Province.

"Carpetbaggery" or Legitimate Change of Heart? ...

Political opportunists are called in Korean as "철새(정치인)" which has no exact equivalent in English. "Carpetbagger" is a nearest word. In America, there are not many who change their political affiliation, say Democrats or Republicans. Donald Trump is an exception ..

As a matter of fact, a migratory bird has nothing to do with opportunism. And resident birds do not bear grudges against migiratory ones. Nevertheless, in our political landscape, migratory politicians or carpetbaggers as in America are severely criticized or vilified for their bareknuckle opportunism and their sheer lack of political credos.

Then, we need a litmus test against Lee's political maneuvering. Is she merely a migratory bird? Or her change of heart is a kind of legitimate?? Or still good for the nation???

Of late, she eulogized Park JungHee(朴正熙, 1917~1979) by remarking "He was a genius. Minus his dictorial excesses, his kudos in our nation's development should be rightly acknowledged." Moreover, she opined that Park GuenHye(朴槿惠) has been unjustly impeached. Some pundits even said that Lee is another Hong JoonPyo(洪準杓, 65) who's notorious for his dirty mouth.

She began her political career as a progressive parliamentarian by garnering "left" votes. In other words, Lee UnJoo represented left votes which said "no" to 'right' politicians or conservative politics. Again in other words, voters wanted her to represent the poor or the oppressed. Of course, all of conservatives are not oppressor. Anyway, she hanged onto her political life in the 20th Congress, as a member of The Minju Party of Korea whose head was elected as the 19th President of Republic of Korea, mandated by "Candlelight Movements."

Thus, Lee's been benefited by Progressive Party for a considerable duration, say six long years, under the aegis of progressism. Nonetheless, Lee contended that our progressism is teeming with 70~80's activists who, according to her, are being obsessed with outmoded thoughts or isms.

Now Under the Banner of New Conservatisms....

As it stands, Liberty Korea Party is now in total disarray; its emergency apparatus, headed by Kim ByungJoon(金秉準, 65) - another opportunist, albeit a political novice - , is about to crumble. Not long ago, Kim employed Jeon WonChaek(全元策, 64) as a "hired hand" to get rid of rotten parliamentarians, many of whom were fully responsible for Park's misrule & corruption. Jeon, however, went too far by alluring extremists who try to restore Park's regime. The backlash was too great for Kim to stand akimbo; his staff SNSed Jeon to buzz off.

The 110-parliamentarian-strong political party is now rudderless, while pro-Park members are at loggerheads with anti-Park ones with the next general elections to be held in 2020 when a majority of them have no prospect of being reelected. And moderates of our country are now looking forward to a genuine leader who represents or leads moderate or conservative voices.

In the eyes of a "conservative" politician like Lee UnJoo, our moderate voters or conservatism are a vast market where there is not a legitimate owner. Hence, a few words are enough to claim the ownership of this vacant market. This is why Lee poured forth thru media strong & sensational words to become a media blackhole by which all other political news are silenced.

Lee EonJoo altered her political representation from MPK to Barun Mirae Party by offering her allegiance to Ahn ChulSoo(安哲秀, 55) who was a presidential candidate after Park's impeachment. Ahn, though ridiculed for his political naivety or clumsiness, had many followers who saw or tried to see a bright future thru him; Lee among such aspirants. Ahn started his policital career as a progressive; however, he also changed his political orientation to center-right where there were enough votes to get him elected. Which meant that he needed to compromise his left leanings if any. By the way, he, as an inexperienced contender, was so eager to get as many votes as possible so that he was far removed from the zeitgeist that had been sick of corrupted rightists. And Ahn was horribly ridiculed for his lack of contents or political beliefs. In reality, I voted him for the 19th Presidential hopeful instead of MPK's Moon who got elected by three times as much to Ahn. Later activities of Ahn made me reawakened to Ahn's vacuity or utter disqualification; he was just another opportunist who does everything to get elected no matter what. Although he professed patriotism, it was nothing more than a rhetoric to curry favor with potential supporters. To make the matter worse, he was eager to imitate one of past political heavy-weights, like Kim DaeJung, to the extent to parrot the latter's deep & oratorial voice. What a laughable fiasco!!

BaMi Party is an offshoot of LKP which is composed of disillusionists escaping from the latter; they wanted to deskin Park's tarnished image as a ploy to get elected in 2020 .. as a sort of political opportunism. Nonetheless, a dozen of them were repatriated to LKP who still appeared formidable in national power game. Later, Ahn's The People's Party got M&Aed with BaMi Party whose head was Yoo SeungMin(劉承旼, 62) who was also another presidential contender in 2016. Thus, the new BaMi Party was an amalgam of a new force who professed to represent "right conservatives." However, I don't know what kind of a political road they would tread. It appears that they just cling to political lifeline, being sandwiched between MPK as a ruling party and LKP as an opposition one. To add salts to injury, people do not give a damn to BaMi Party.

Maybe, this is why Lee UnJoo is now geared into another maneuvering so as to remain alive in 2020's general elections. She professes to represent "right rights" as a formidable counterweight to Moon's progressive or "too dangerous" regime. It may be right to say that she seems successful in touching the right nerve of Korea's conservatives who got hurt by Park's misrule, however, overly vilified. It seems that a sizable portion of conservatives, albeit going with lawful decision to impeach Park, saw Moon's regime having gone too far in correcting past misdeeds.

In my own view as well, Korea's middle roaders, or conscientious conservatives, are not being commonsensically represented; the inner struggle in LKP is too horrible to tolerate. No one of them came up with mea culpa. Everyone of them just clings to each one's perks & privileges..so eager to save their asses...while their recalcitrances & absurd altercations in parliament politics are too sorry to bear.

Lee EonJoo is also renowned for her indigence in her teens when she had to put foods to her mouth by hopping on this odd job or that odd job. ..which may tell that she grew up only in existential instincts. In other words, existence comes first before any thought or any philosophy to her. Maybe, she is a political monster.

And I recall that she once cornered a high official in Economic Ministry of Park's Government for his illogical economic policies in a Congressional Hearing. I was at that time impressed by her economic knowledge as attested in her academic achievement at Yonsei University's Economic Graduate School. She was a vocal activist belonging to a progressive & opposition party. At that time, I thought that she was a bona fide & no-nonsense leftist.

But now she avers that she is a genuine conservative. What has made her change her heart? What of the now progressive regime redressed her political stance?? Why now she advocates Park JungHee who gave breads to his people at the expense of so many lives who opposed his repression??? Is it okay to sacrifice a democracy just for the sake of economic development and for one man's eternal rule????

However, without any full explanation, she just says she is a middle roader who represents Park JungHee's followers. As of now, her stance looks ridiculous or laughable. Eight out of ten expressed approval in the impeachment of his daughter President for her kingdom-like privitisation of the national politics. Moreover, many of LKP members also cast yes ballots in the process of parliamentarian impeachment. Thus, right politics are now a foregone conclusion .. but ending up with "orphaned" rightists.

In fact, moderates are those between extreme rights and far left; the latter of which is now taking power against jealousy or chagrin of extreme rightists who have a strong nostalgia for Park JungHee's strong-arm leadership. And moderates are also called "undecided" or "floating voters" between rights and lefts. However, moderates are very influential in any presidential election; and they are for the taking whenever a close call or a slim change for winning arises. As long as right voters or left ones are fixed in numbers, any political contenders are vying for nipping into the sea of moderate voters as more as possible. And any opportunists like Lee UnJoo would so easily look into the sea of middle roaders. So long as Lee is not a hardcore leftist, it's easy to see her change her heart, because it's natural for her to get reelected in 2020 whether she remains left or changes the boat, say into LKP which provides more possibility if she represents it in her hometown of Youngdo, to which LKP also happily opens its arms.

Why All the Fuss? .....

Not surprisingly, Sohn Hakgyu(孫鶴圭, 71) was aghast at Lee's daredevil opportunism. To him, Lee must have appeared a thick-skinned and ungrateful hussy. How a forty-something two-termed congress woman could defy a septuagenarian & four-termed parliamentarian like him? Sohn was just dumbfounded so that he lashed out criticism against Lee, to which she just retorted "Are you arainst Moon or not?"

And the nation "Ah!"ed and "Oh!"ed to this young congresswoman's David-like challenge against stale & perhaps Goliath politics.

Anyway, Lee EonJoo happens to personify "Political entertainment of our country" in which notoriety as in Hong JoonPyo's bad mouthing or laughing stock as in Ahn ChulSoo's unrefined maneuverings are the name of game that's devoid of serious patriotism or worry for the national safety & welfare. Thus, disillusioned electorates are not eager to see who takes power, because any president would end up as the same and does not make any difference to quotidian life of each one. Even the present Government is dithering in economics.

By the way, why do I write about Lee EonJoo, another minority politician? Why do I concern myself with her eccentricity in politics??

Well, she is a parliamentarian, one component of the 300-seat National Congress in Yeouido. The other day, I overheard someone saying, "As of now, the most powerful one in our fucking country is a member of our national congress who has an unfathomably immense power and can do anything as his or her heart desires."

Yes, it's quite true. Although s/he begs for votes in electoral campaigns, once s/he manages to have put an honorable & gold badge on his/her lapel, the biggest power in our nation is bestowed on him/her. Not to mention of several hundreds of millions of won as remuneration at the expense of taxpayers' money, s/he is given a office, a car and a plethora of staff members to assist him/her in everything, not to mention of official duty, even very personal. Moreover, people bow to him/her. Albeit confined to just four years as a term-limit, a parliamentarian job is one of the juiciest occupations in our fucking nation.

Emanation of All Sorts of Bullying, Abuses & Corruption......

Hong MoonJong(洪文鐘, 63) is an LKP's parliamentarian who is renowned for his pro-Park politics; he does not repent his mistakes. Moreover, he is noted for influence peddling in getting somene or someones hired at Kangwon Land Casino, hence he was tainted by Park's governmental corruption. However, to save his ass, he kept a low profile until he came up suddenly in an ad-hoc conference held by Korean Federation of Kindergartens who's been severely bashed for malpractices & embezzlement of tax money together with tutions. Hong sided with KFK by remarking "If Kindergartens' owners are vilifiied, then kids who attend their pre schools would suffer the consequences. Why do they not know?"

Thus, Park YongJin(朴用鎭, 47)'s so-called "three laws" are against the wall of LKP which defies the nation's majority opinion that criticises criminality of private kindergartens. KFK takes children hostage to prolong their parochial interests; to hell with our kids' welfare & genuine education!

Meaning? Our parliamentarians do not represent our nation's welfare & justice; on the contrary, they are just representing someone's or certain interest groups which bilk the national coffers. And Moon's Government coined "Quotidian Wrongs" or "Wrongs & injustices in our daily lives" that comprise WeDISK's Yang JinHo's violence over his hirees & a certain professor over a suspec adultery, not to mention of KAL family's obstrepereousness. And these rogues are also in cahoot with powerful personnel in judiciary & political arena.

Politicians themselves do not contribute to society as a plain worker who contributes to the nation by paying taxes. Politicians are being paid by the nation for his/her political contribution. In other words, they subsist on the rest's hard work. However, they reign over common folks as if they pay the latter. In fact, they borrow their power from the nation by a democratic apparatus like elections, however, they behave as if born to rule! How absurd!!?

Thus, all sorts of illegitimate happenings & bullying, corruption are coming from politicians, especially parliamentarians.

Why Do We Not Disassemble the Assembly??.......

As long as our national congress represents a certain group, especially privileged groups, it's natural that a struggle is going on between the ruling & the opposition or "oppressed" party; the former struggles not to lose power, the latter to take or retake power. Thus, in the eyes of the ruled, the ruler always looks wrong.

By the way, as long as our nation is being divided this much, all are not benefited. And the nation suffers from "quotidian wrongs", not to mention of "political wrongs." In short, our national congress is an epicenter of all wrongs & power abuses.

Then why do we not dissolve such a problematic entity? Moreover, even MPK as a ruling party agreed with LKP's suggestion to increase the number of parliamentarians! As it stands, parliamentarians appear stronger with a longivity longer than that of a President whose term limit confines to five years only. And a parliamentarian may have an ability to keep his/her job by gerrymandering or by having secured fixed votes. Thus, it's quite natural for each parliamentarian to represent his own interests or his own district .. hence a national or a broader base is a foreign one to him or her.

Why do we not destroy such a "mis-representing" representation?
