Depressed adults age 50 or above are more than twice as likely to develop vascular dementia(strokes)and 65% more likely to
develope Alzheimer's than similarly aged people who are not depressed.
People who are depressed produce high levels of stress hormone
,cortisol which has adverse effect on the hippocampus - a part
of brain for new learning and memory, making it smaller.
Older adults are 3 times more likely to develope vascular dementia if they'd suffered from depression starting in middle age and continueing on later life.
Almost 15% of Alzheimer's are potentially attributable to depression.

no effective therapy. We can work on preventions though, daily,
making the process enjoyable to be able to continue; a secret of
changing unpleasant threat or stress to exciting challenge stress to succeed.
