Synergy of nutrients
My multivitamin bottle lists 32 nutrients, including iron 0 mg,
which is also very important to seniors' hearts, particularly
male seniors. In fact, seniors have to avoid iron, and young ones need it in multivitamin pills.
In addition, I take 22 other nutrients every day as well. Some of these are for filling insufficient parts of the multivitamin
caplet, and others are to add the missing parts.
% DV(daily value) listed next to each item are the minimum daily
value US Government came out with in 1930s I recall. I want the
maximum % DV with the current knowledge, within safety margins
established.
Ray Kurzweil writes he has been taking about 150 nutrients every day with frequent monitoring tests for safety. His father
died at 50 or so by heart attack, and he wants to overcome the same fate. He is now over 55 or so. I'm close to 80. He plans to liver longer than 100. I do, too. Wouldn't you?
All these nutrients work in our bodies synergistically, positively in many, negatively in some others; there is no perfect answere here, either. I usually compare this synergy
with the simple fact that the wine barrels assembled with strips of wood and steel hold wine up to the shortest(or broken)
wood strip when the barrel is set on an edge. The rest of wine
(if filled full), would be leaked out, and wasted.
This last points to the importance of sufficiency in any successful synergy. We know lots of necessary conditions in many things, but tend to forget or ignore this sufficient conditions to achieve any success; learning, business, health in body and mind, love, friendship, happiness, ...
