Breaking News!
"Summers withdraws his name for Fed Chief" - Washington Post, by Zacharay Goldfarb, Sep 15, 2013.
Whew!
Some of the comments I liked among those I read so far....
1."He wasn't even "a good old boy. He was a snut-nosed snob
educated beyond his intelligence."
2."That is a good news - an architect for 1/10th of 1% is off the table."
3. "He will do anything for the big banks. He is the Big Pimp
for the wall Street. Summers is a sick man, a poison for all of us."
4."Minor point, but why did he write that letter(to Obama on his resignation) on Harvad letter head? Guess those Harvad guys
aren't smart enough."
---------------
Do you remmember the essay, "Summers of our discontent" by Maureen Dowd and introduced here with Korean translation by
Han Baram(?). Maureen was one of the earliest objector against
Summers nomination, artfully pointing out Summers' misogynistic
comments on women when he was the Harvad President. I started to enjoy reading her writings from mid-1980's, including her book
"Bushworld; enter at your own risk", because of her ability to
write dramatically on any modern subjects; she majored in Shakesperean dramas. I believe her early writing on Summers
has influenced on today's dramatic "Breaking News"!
For those who may be interested in further, I highly recommend to read 500 plus comments by now on the article above. Way over
1,000 comments by 11:00 PM. Real drama on real issues affecting
everyone keeps going on. NYTimes story followed has about half
that number of comments by now.
