Some of you who has grand kid will understand what I am talking about. I was visited my grand son and his parent oneday. He was crowing on the floor in the living room, and looking at me and smiled. Every time he did this , my heart was melt down and I was so happy, that I never felt the love like never before. After their visit, I thought about his smile all the time and think about what I can do for him better his life as grand mother. In result, I decided to sell some of the stock I had a few years and give to him 10k for his birthday present, and told his father who is my son, graduated from USC, financing major, knows about $$$ better than I, I thought."This money should not spent for anything, but to invest in his name, so when he become 65years old, he should have a few millions." I told to my son more than enough, and felt good about it. By the way, after I sold that stock, it dropped less than 1/2 its value within 2 weeks.It was pure luck that I sold. I asked to son a few if he invested that money, he replied "not yet". Almost a year later, I found out he spent that money somewhere else. I heard his in-law had surgery about same time. I was very angry and I changed the beneficiary from my life insurance to my daughter. I stop giving the penny from that day. People donot know the power of the rule of 72!. The reason I tell this story is donot make same mistake I made. This is much better than I give Zen bad time. Have nice day guys.
