원래 제목은 Laura (What's He got that I ain't got) 으로 비교적 긴 제목이였지만 우리나라에서는 추가로 붙여진 (What's He got that I ain't got) 은 무시하고 Laura 라는 곡명의 Ace Cannon 의 색소폰연주로 소개가 되었으며 70년대 초에 국내 음악실감상실과 음악다방을 통해서 크게 인기를 얻었던 곡이다. 

국내에선 Ace Cannon의 색소폰 곡으로만 많이 알려졌지만 사실 미국에서는 Leon Ashley 의 노래로 먼저 발표가 되었던 곡이다. 어떤 분은 이 곡을 Ace Cannon 작곡으로 소개를 하시는 분도 계시고 어떤 분은 자살을 한 자기 딸을 위하여 곡을 만들었으며 이 곡엔 절대 가사를 붙이지 말라는 미상의 작곡가의 요청으로 Ace Cannon 이 작곡가의 뜻을 살려서 흐느끼는 듯한 표현을 해서 색소폰 곡으로만 발표를 했다고 얘기를 하시는 분도 계시던데 모두가 사실이 아니다. 

이 곡은 원래  부부가수인 Leon Ashley 과 Margie Singleton 에 의해서 만들어 졌으며 노래는 남편인 Leon Ashley 에 의해서 1967년에 비교적 빠른 템포의 컨츄리풍으로 취입되어서 인기를 모은 노래인데 1년 뒤인 1968년에Ace Cannon 이 멎지게 자기의 취향에 맞게 편곡을 해서  The Incomparable Sax of Ace Cannon 이란 LP 판에 색소폰 곡으로 수록, 발표 한 곡이다.

아래는 1967 년도에 Leon Ashley 에 의해서 발표된 후에 많은 가수들에 의해서 다시 불려졌던 Laura(What's he got that I ain't got)의 노래가사다. 욕망으로 가득 찬 Laura 라는 여인을 사랑했다가 배반을 당한 심정을 노래하고 있으며 그가 해준 만큼 내가 해주지 못한 것이 무엇인지, 그가 가진 것 중에 내가 가지지 못한 것이 무엇인지를 이 총구의 방아쇠가 당겨지기 전에 나에게 말해달라는 애증과 분노에 가득찬 노래가사이지만 실재로 총이 발사되었는지는 가사에 나와있지 않기에 묘한 여운을 남기는 가사이기도 하다. 원래의 노래를 듣다보면 Ace Cannon 의 색소폰곡과 다른 곡으로 착각이 될 정도이지만 반복해서 자세히 들으보면 Ace Cannon 이 얼마나 훌륭히 편곡을 했는지를 알 수 있는 곡이다.
