미국에서
이미 개발된 코로나바이러스 백신이 다음 주 정도에 나올 예정이라고 합니다.

상하원에서 트럼프대통령이 요청한 코로나바이러스 긴급추경예산 10조 통과시켰다고 발표했습니다.  트럼프대통령은 긴급 코로나바이러스 추가 예산에 사인을 할 것이라고 합니다.

코로나바이러스 방역총괄책임을 맡고 있는 마이크펜스 부통령도  미국 백신개발 연구팀의 그동안의 성과에 만족해 하며 격려를 했습니다.

미국정부는
특별히 코로나바이러스로 인하여 많은 어려움을 겪고 있는 나라 , 한국에 60명의 백신 의료연구진을 급파했으며, 현재 미군기지 캠프험프리 내에서 코로나백신과 관련된 추가연구와 임상실험을 진행중에 있다고 합니다.

미국정부가
한국의 어려움을 돕는 이유는, 한국을 돕는 것이 곧 미국을 보호하기 때문이며, 트럼프대통령은 한국에서 일어나고있는 코로나바이러스  전염병 사태를 심각하게 받아들이고 있다고 합니다.

이미 한 지역사회로
확산된 코로나바이러스로 고통받고 있는 한국을 바라보는 미국의 시각은, 지금처럼 문재인정부 컨트럴타워에 맡겨 둔다면, 한국 전국민의 40% 이상이 코로나바이러스  전염병에 감염될 것을 우려하고 있기 때문이라고 설명했습니다.

개발된  코로나바이러스 백신은 투입되고 6개월의 시험 기간을 걸친 후, 어느 정도 후유증의 경과를 지켜보는 시간이 필요하다고 합니다.

이 백신을
투입한 후에 항체형성과 시험 치료과정이 길게는 1년 혹은 18개월 정도 걸릴수도 있겠지만, 미국정부가 한국을 먼저 생각하고, 현재는 한국에 있는 미군들에게 실험하고 있으며,  이 모든 실험과정을 통한 긍정적 결과들을 한국정부와 공유하겠다고 발표했습니다.

한국을
중국산 우한 폐렴 코로나바이러스 전쟁으로 부터 지켜내기 위하여, 필요하다면 전문의료진을 더 파견하고, 추가적인 병력도 지원하겠다고 약속했습니다.

Trump’s Message on Virus Draws Scrutiny 

Public-health experts say president needs to give consistent guidance on disease’s severity and how the sick can help prevent its spread

WASHINGTON?President Trump is trying to ease anxieties about coronavirus. Public-health experts say he may be sowing confusion in the process.
Mr. Trump drew fresh scrutiny after an interview on Fox News Wednesday in which he questioned the death rate associated with the virus and the severity of its impact on the public.
“A lot of people will have this, and it’s very mild,” Mr. Trump said to host Sean Hannity. “They will get better very rapidly. They don’t even see a doctor. They don’t even call a doctor.”
He added: “So, if we have thousands or hundreds of thousands of people that get better just by, you know, sitting around and even going to work?some of them go to work, but they get better.”
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention advises that people who are “mildly ill” with Covid-19, the disease caused by the new coronavirus, “should restrict activities outside your home, except for getting medical care. Do not go to work, school, or public areas.”

Amid criticism from Democrats that he wasn’t fully explaining the risks of the disease spreading, Mr. Trump tweeted Thursday: “I NEVER said people that are feeling sick should go to work.”
As infections have escalated in the U.S., Mr. Trump has urged calm amid tumult in the financial markets and rising public anxiety. He has put Vice President Mike Pence in charge of the anti-virus effort, seeking to streamline messaging. He repeatedly stressed that the number of documented cases has been low and that the U.S. government response has been robust.

Speaking at a town hall sponsored by Fox News on Thursday night, Mr. Trump again sought to calm nerves, saying the economy remained strong and that he liked that people may travel more domestically due to restrictions.

“It’s all going to work out. Everybody has to be calm,” he said.

But he has at times seemed to obscure the administration’s message by minimizing risks and dispensing information that was incorrect or contradicted by other officials. He has also given varying accounts of the severity of the crisis.

J. Stephen Morrison, director of the Global Health Policy Center at the Center for Strategic and International Studies, a Washington think tank, said there was a “certain level of inconsistency” in Mr. Trump’s remarks.

“What is needed right now from the White House is a consistent, coherent message that is based on public health science but also tells the public what we know and don’t know and what lies ahead,” he said.

Crystal Watson, a senior scholar at the Johns Hopkins Center for Health Security, said the government can diminish credibility when it appears to be issuing mixed messages.

“It results in a loss of trust in government and authorities,” said Ms. Watson, who works on public-health emergencies, including infectious diseases.

White House spokesman Judd Deere said that “the Left and some in the media” are focused on “fearful rhetoric and palace intrigue,” adding that Mr. Pence was leading a “whole-of-government response in partnership with state and local leaders that includes the best experts on infectious diseases.”

On Fox Wednesday, the president also questioned the fatality rate of the virus. The World Health Organization this week stated a mortality rate of 3.4% based on deaths in confirmed cases so far, but experts have cautioned the actual death rate is lower. Other estimates have put it around 2%. The death rate for seasonal flu is typically around 0.1%.

Mr. Trump said he had a “hunch” it was lower than 3.4%, noting that there could be many undiagnosed cases.

“You never hear about those people. So, you can’t put them down in the category of the overall population in terms of this corona flu and?or virus,” Mr. Trump said.

Federal health officials estimated Thursday that the mortality rate for the novel coronavirus is between 0.1% and 1%, lower than estimates of other health organizations. “The WHO numbers that you see do not take into account the people who don’t come into contact with the medical facility,” said Anthony Fauci, head of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases.

Vice President Mike Pence headed to Washington state Thursday to meet with the state’s governor to review the virus response. He also stopped in Minnesota, where he met with the CEO of 3M, a company that makes protective masks.

Questions about the administration’s messaging hung over Mr. Pence’s meeting with Gov. Jay Inslee, a Democrat, who tweeted last week that during a call with the vice president, he “told him our work would be more successful if the Trump administration stuck to the science and told the truth.”

Asked if that issue came up Thursday, Mr. Inslee said they didn’t talk about it, but he said they were hearing “good science” from many in the federal government and said there was broad agreement to ramp up efforts to fight the virus.

On the response to the virus from Mr. Trump, Mr. Inslee joked, “I’m going to defer that question to the vice president.” He added that he has had “robust disagreements with the current president, but I want to focus today on the work we need to do in a partnership.” 

Officials in Washington state said a 10th person died there Wednesday. All but one of the U.S. deaths linked to the coronavirus have occurred in the state, which has emerged as a hot spot in the virus fight. Washington now has at least 39 confirmed infections, according to its health department.
