Perches and black cods
These are two kinds of fish my wife and her partener friend brought home today from Pacific Ocean. We just finished our dinner with black cod Jo-Rim. Korean name is EUN-DAE-GOO, with
rich creamy oil. After putting them into zipper bags with water
to get air out for preventing freezer burns, we store them in the freezers, eat them throughout the year at any time.
While she was gone, many Korean cucumbers, round zucchinis(very sweet) and broccoli crowns grew large enough, and so she harvested some to help the dinner. This was only one day after a Korean couple dropped by and I gave them some fresh cucumbers and round zucchinis.
I am actually writing this with the new warning still ringing in my head about "Our coming food crisis" I read yesterday in NYTimes, by Gary Nabham. Because of unusually hot wheather over
many years now, farming yields have been going down too long to
recover back to normal levels, now; depletion of ground water,
devastation of grasslands and grass seeds etc. Like many other things in life, I like to prepare myself for long-terms. I recommend a small vegetable garden for every family; saves money, eat healthier, little work, ...., in fact, my wife says
it is the best fun, more than fishing, camping, TV, even ping pong playing!
