전공의 선택
"학교 명성보다 전공" 인식 변화.
Have you read this article on top koreatimes.com list?
Who chose your major? And why? What subject(s) did you like best
when you were in the middle and high schools? How did your children end up choosing their majors? Did you regret your chosen field later? It makes you think, doesn't it.
-----
I know we Koreans do not appreciate questioning mode of conversations. Sorry for this neglect on my part. My intention
was to discuss the importance of this subject beyond the article in koreatimes.com, not to interrogate anybody, or force you to reveal your personal stories. No body, inclduding Park
Jung Hui, has that right. Just maybe, we tend to be oversensitive because of those painful past. If we could squelch this portion of our sensitivity, wouldn't my questions
ignite a lively conversations to help us all? As a result, the
적성 검사 program in the article above may get some good inputs from us seniors with many lifetime experiences, don't you think?
----
Addendum;
The other input I had in my mind for igniting a lively conversation was what Michael Gazzaniga, Founder of Cognitive
Psychology, said when asked what he would have done differently, knowing what he already knew, by Charlie Rose on his nightly PBS
talk show. He answered by saying, "I would have studied mathematics, electronics and computers. They would have helped me to connect and synthesize better and quicker."
My takehome lesson was;
1. We tend to fail to see the whole picture by focusing on a few
details.
2. We tend to fail to see the details by looking on the whole
picture, resulting in wrong conclusions.
3. Like it or not, we have to see both; the whole and the details, necessary conditions and sufficient conditions.
4. Quote(a repeat). "The most innovative heads are letter T shaped. Vertical ㅣ stands for depth in one field of knowledge and horizontal ㅡ stands for variety of knowledges in as many as possible."
5.Development of Neocortex of our brain(managing thinking, planning, anticipating, etc.) gets matured by mid-twenties.
6.
