얼마전 출석하는 교회의 전도사님께
Lewis Koppel이라는 미국인 할아버지께로부터 메일이 한통 왔는데…
오래 전 미국에서 알게 된 한국인 목사님을 찾고 계시는데 도와 달라는 부탁을 받으셨다고 하네요.
구미의 병원들 마다 전화를 하면서 찾아보고 있는데 할아버지의 기억만으로는 쉽지 않네요.
혹 그 목사님의 자제분이나 지인 중 미국에 거주하시는 분이 계실까 하여

I have a slightly better time frame to give you. I believe he retired from the Carborundum Company, in Niagara Falls, NY, no earlier than 1992, so his studies for the ministry would have been after that. I know I visited him in Gumi sometime in the last half of the 1990's; unfortunately, my passport does not for some reason show any entry stamp for Korea.

He was an engineer (I believe a chemical engineer), but his work was primarily in metallurgical and ceramic applications. I'm pretty certain he had a Ph.D. degree, but I don't think it was from an American University; perhaps it was earned in Korea. From about the mid-1970's to early 1990's, he worked for the Kennecott Copper Corporation and later for its Carborundum subsidiary.

As I mentioned, he formed his own congregation in Gumi. One of the principal aims of his ministry there was to assist hospital patients who did not have family to take care of them in hospital.
