How to Apply for a Certificate of Clearance:

Singapore

SECURE CONVENIENT FAST WAY to issue your vital records

  1. What is Certificate of Clearance?

A Certificate of Clearance is issued by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Singapore Police Force (SPF) to certify that a person has no Criminal Conviction within a stipulated period of time in Singapore.

  1. Why is COC required?

If you have stayed in Singapore for several months or years, your country of residence may need your COC to know whether you have history of crimes in Singapore or not.

In most cases, it is required by potential employer as proof that you are not involved in any pending crime cases. Immigration, visa applications and international travel are also the examples of where your COC is required.

In general, it is better to always have a valid COC on hand because you will often need to spend time to process requesting for one. It is valid for a period of time so it should be renewed before it expires.

  1. How can I get COC?

When you apply COC through the website, you must have lived in Singapore for at least 6 months and must be above the age of 16 at the time of request. After you complete all the required forms in the Singapore Police Force website, you must send your original hardcopy fingerprint in the mail. Fingerprints must be taken by a certified fingerprint taker, not by the applicant.

Additionally, if you are going to submit COC to other country which is apostille joined country, you need to get an apostille for the document (Translation and notarization may be necessary depending on the country).

Otherwise, if the country is non-apostille joined country, you need to get consular and embassy certification instead of apostille.
