Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and several European leaders are heading to Washington in an attempt to secure firm commitments from the Trump administration. Their mission comes after reports that President Trump is considering parts of a peace proposal offered by Russian President Vladimir Putin. The plan would see Ukraine cede the Donbas region, currently under Russian control, in exchange for a ceasefire. The White House has not publicly endorsed the idea. Still, its emergence has stirred deep unease in Kyiv and across Europe. Zelenskyy and his allies are expected to argue that any settlement granting Russia lasting control over seized Ukrainian territory could set a dangerous precedent and undermine international security. For Trump, these meetings present an opportunity to highlight his dealmaking approach to foreign policy. His focus is on tangible outcomes and reducing the direct U.S. burden in overseas conflicts.

Putin said, "You won that election by a huge margin," and that was his continuation.
